Chocolate Drop Cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Icing
- 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons water
- powdered sugar
Directions
Cream the butter and sugar together. Mix in the egg, chocolate, buttermilk, and vanilla. Sift in the dry ingredients and mix well. Cover and refrigerate one hour.
Heat oven to 400°F.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes.

Melt the chocolate and butter together over low heat. Remove from heat and add stir in the water. Sift in powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time and stir until the icing reaches desired consistency.
